SECOND TITLE WORDS, QUOTE, OR NAME SECOND SUBTITLE WORDS, QUOTE, SOMETHING BACKGROUND✦ adam is a twin, his sister is devon parker, they are both freshly out of college, so like early 20s ✦ OCverse is basically indiana jones meets urban magic/witchcraft with some eldritch shit maybe? but also gen Z kids ✦ their biological parents were members of a cult and the twins were born in a cult ritual that had them both killed, the twins were adopted by adelaide and evelyn parker, who are a very classy archaeology and anthropology team usually researching ancient theology and mysticism but sometimes touching on the occult. there was a prophecy saying at a certain age, some eldritch horror god will come possess the twins superpowered bodies and fuck the earth up. coolcool. ✦ Adelaide (mum)! she's the archaeologist, and she's more literal and analytical minded, a lot like his sister. She was the one telling him he needs to clean his room up and get his things taken care of like college applications and etc etc. They probably butted heads more often than with Evelyn. Adelaide let less things slide than Evelyn, though she does adore both her children, but she was always worried about Adam making it on his own, despite his talent. ✦ Evelyn (mom)! Evelyn is the anthropologist, and Adam shares a lot in common with her in the sense of how they approach the world and perspective and how their brains worked. They're very people and culture and philosophy oriented, and thus frustratingly abstract lololol, however Adam is much more easily distracted and needs something tactile in his hands to be able to focus. Evelyn took a lot of sympathy for Adam, because she knew how important his music was and what lovely things he creates when he's in that groove, but his brain just doesn't function as linearly as the professional world needs it to. Because he's a mess of a child, she did take care of a lot of things for him, because he is a mess but he works best as a mess and she wanted to make sure her boy succeeded, which probably infuriated Devon a lot. Moms knew Devon was a lot more capable of taking care of herself. ✦ It was apparent from an early age that the twins had very different personalities. Adam was bonny and cheerful, and Devon was concerned with getting things right and keeping things in order. The difference in their personalities was marked, but they shared a close bond, and from an early age strange things could happen when the twins were together and experience intense moods. Adelaide and Evelyn, to their credit, did their best to manage children with manifesting abilities in a world where magic is not generally acknowledged beyond fiction, but sure was a time. More Devon Info. ✦ adam possesses powers for clairvoyance and prophecy, devon is telekinetic. their abilities are middling when the twins are separate, and scary intense when they're together. their powers start to really show around age 12ish, and moms start to get concerned, turning their research towards trying to figure out where their kids came from and what the cult was up to. ✦ high school: the twins go through a lot of bickering and adjustment and growing up and arguing, then go off to college, though they remain in the same state as each other + their moms bc they're codependent losers ✦ juilliard: adam received a degree in musical performance (strings) from juilliard, did a lot of conducting classes as well so he's familiar with a lot of instruments but can't necessarily play them/play them well. college stressed him the fuck out, but he was determined to keep his moms from worrying, so he was one of those adderall junkie kids, and also other drugs junkie, while also being nigh-prodigy and under a fuck ton of stress. it just made for a really bad time. ✦ hospitalization: a mix of drug abuse, college stress and vision powers going wonky had adam collapse bad enough for hospitalization, moms took this as a sign to get their asses moving on figuring out how to protect their kids from whatever they were born into. ✦ moms went missing shortly after while investigating some occult shit surrounding their babbies, because they want to protect them. ✦ twins went to go find them, which means following the leads they were following and researching the same stuff and learning more about themselves and the prophecy that was surrounding their birth (they were supposed to be one person, oops, they are two) ✦ backpacking around europe, staying at hostels, playing violin on street corners for money, breaking into museums and libraries and old ass archaeological sites while trying to follow their moms' footsteps and locate them. the twins are starting to discover a whole hidden supernatural world with magic and witches and old gods and cultists and it's a difficult time, but hey, adveeenture PERSONALITY✦ ADAM is a musician; he mainly plays string instruments (carries a violin around and does street performance for $$$), but he can sing as well, got himself a music degree recently ✦ where devon is high-strung, analytical and realistic, adam is chill, abstract and artistic with a love for mysticism and exploring the human condition in a much less serious way, so they're somewhat opposites in that sense ✦ the twin that shows up late with starbucks wearing shades and nursing a hangover ✦ i feel like this is the most accurate representation of him ✦ wakes devon up in the morning by belting adele power ballads in her doorway ✦ avoids confrontation aggressively, especially if it's about him, also dislikes overthinking things or ruminating on self-reflection too long because, surprise, he doesn't actually like himself that much but he's really good at pretending otherwise ✦ partly genuinely lazy, partly lazy just to annoy his sister ✦ visions can get pretty graphic and haunting, he often sees bad things happen to people he can't help, but if they're near them or he knows enough to be able to do something about it, he will ✦ emotional, dramatic, but pretty frivolous as well. if he's upset, he... at least won't act like it for long, and it'll pass faster than it would for devon. can absolutely get pouty and petty, but generally tries to do right by people. the pouty/petty comes out more with his family than others. ✦ abstract minded ✦ its a running theme that devon gets stuck with all the parts of The Plan that end up being a shitshow and adam just shows up later like wow did u fall down a mountain or smth? i brought starbucks. or whatever their plan of attack ends up being for indiana jonesing a place or fighting some cultists. it isn't that adam's ever being negligent or not pulling his weight, things just tend to go better for him, like, all the time. ✦ takes long as fuck showers and listens to entire symphonies during them, especially if he's trying to learn one he's about to play in ✦ pack rat. nothing is organized but he needs to keep all of it, pls. ✦ "apparatus" ✦ very rarely punches people mostly because he needs his hands and he Can Not fuck them up, thanks ✦ devon very much Takes Care Of Him sometimes, and maybe resents him for it a bit, but they've grown up enough that they've sort of reached a balance in that. devon understands why adam needs it, adam understands not to ask too much from her and make sure she knows he appreciates her for it. still, it's a point of contention, and dev definitely doesn't baby him as much as their moms did, and adam def doesn't explain as much about why he's having issues as he should, but at the same time, they're twins, and they don't always have to make words occur to get each other ✦ cares very little about labels on his sexuality but pan is closest ✦ ✦ ABILITIES✦ default base powers are clairvoyance/prophecy, which he does while creating some kind of music, either playing or singing ✦ powers follow his personality a lot - they're very abstract, not as much prep needed, but he does have to v much be in the right headspace to use them effectively ✦ can also play some horrible thing on an instrument that makes ur ears bleed or ur vision go all fuckery, idk, sound stuff ✦ | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

Character Development Meme Questions
1. Does your character have siblings or family members in their age group? Which one are they closest with?
He has one twin sister, and they're very close, even if they bicker a lot. They probably had that period of "i hate being a twin" sometime in teenage years, but they're mostly past it by now
2. What is/was your character’s relationship with their mother like?
Ok let's start with Adelaide, and let's say she's the archeaologist, and she's more literal and analytical minded, a lot like his sister. She was the one telling him he needs to clean his room up and get his things taken care of like college applications and etc etc. They probably butted heads more often than with Evelyn. Adelaide let less things slide than Evelyn, though she does adore both her children, but she was always worried about Adam making it on his own, despite his talent.
3. What is/was your character’s relationship with their
fatherother mother like?Evelyn is the anthropologist, and Adam shares a lot in common with her in the sense of how they approach the world and perspective and how their brains worked.
4. Has your character ever witnessed something that fundamentally changed them? If so, does anyone else know?
I imagine the twins have some lingering memories of what the ritual they were born in was like, and it was probably scary and bloody and terrible. Adam gets visions regularly when he's playing or singing, and sometimes they're around the same macabre theme, and that tends to torment him a little. He uses recreational drugs probably too heavily in an effort to self medicate.
5. On an average day, what can be found in your character’s pockets?
Wallet, cellphone, lighter, spare change, harmonica, jolly ranchers.
6. Does your character have recurring themes in their dreams?
Occult shit, the future, usually Bad Futures. Sometimes he'll see the deaths of people on the other side of the world that he can't do anything about and it's just really terrible. It makes him not want to sleep much, so he'll often take different drugs to try to get dreamless sleep. Visions aren't awesome. For nice dreams, it's usually time spent with his family going on adventures. Being that their parents traveled a lot to visit research sites, they got to see a lot of cool places/
7. Does your character have recurring themes in their nightmares?
See above.
8. Has your character ever fired a gun? If so, what was their first target?
Maybe, and probably a cultist, and he probably missed.
9. Is your character’s current socioeconomic status different than it was when they were growing up?
Yes. Moms were pretty well off and successful. Currently, the twins are backpacking around Europe and doign street music and pickpocketing for $$$, they poor. Also, their degrees are useless.
10. Does your character feel more comfortable with more clothing, or with less clothing?
Less.
11. In what situation was your character the most afraid they’ve ever been?
Probably the first time he had a vision of something really horrible, before he knew what his powers were and was just thinking he was going insane. The visions sometimes come in weird ways that make him doubt his reality or get confused about where/when he is, and it makes him feel crazy. Sitting next to Devon during these times makes him feel better, she's like a solid rock for him.
12. In what situation was your character the most calm they’ve ever been?
Sitting on a lovely lawn overlooking Machu Pichu, playing panpipes, while his sister read some obscure old book next to him and the sun felt lovely on their cheeks.
13. Is your character bothered by the sight of blood? If so, in what way?
Yes. Gives him birth ritual trauma flashbacks, feels uncomfy.
14. Does your character remember names or faces easier?
Faces
15. Is your character preoccupied with money or material possession? Why or why not?
Nope. He's an abstract dude. While he is more used to a comfortable life and does get bratty about not having as much luxury as he's used to, it doesn't honestly bother him incredibly. He can still function fine with 7 minute long cold showers rather than hour long warm baths. He'll just complain for the sake of complaining.
16. Which does your character idealize most: happiness or success?
Happiness
17. What was your character’s favorite toy as a child?
A shiny stuffed dragon they bought for him from a castle giftshop in Germany.
18. Is your character more likely to admire wisdom, or ambition in others?
Wisdom
19. What is your character’s biggest relationship flaw? Has this flaw destroyed relationships for them before?
Lack of commitment or general flightiness. He's bad at being reliable and stable, likes things more chaotic and spontaneous. It's not great for the long run. It probably hasn't ~destroyed~ really so much as stopped him from having really deep romantic relationships rather than short but intense flings.
20. In what ways does your character compare themselves to others? Do they do this for the sake of self-validation, or self-criticism?
Despite how interested and invested he is in people and how their minds work and what their dreams are and what their imagination is like, sometimes Adam just feels really, really empty and it's very weird and alienating, which usually has him burying himself more fully in experience and people and etc, trying to fill up that emptiness. It's much more a self-criticism thing. He gets this weird phobia that he's faking everything sometimes that he's trying to convince himself otherwise with.
21. If something tragic or negative happens to your character, do they believe they may have caused or deserved it, or are they quick to blame others?
Well, there's the whole birth ritual shit, and then all the cultist nonsense that goes on after while they're looking for their moms, and there's probably a lot of pain and trauma that comes with that, especially while trying to figure out their powers. Largely, Adam will be avoiding dealing with the blame of a situation entirely, neither taking it himself or putting it on someone else, just saying 'okay, it's done, let's move on', but it'll be quitely stewing around inside his head, usually in the realm of not doing enough himself or not doing it well enough, etc.
22. What does your character like in other people?
Imagination, character, interesting perspective, curiosity, philosophy, optimism, genuine-ness
23. What does your character dislike in other people?
Basic bitchisms :| Putting other people down to make yourself feel better, machismo, chronic dishonesty (sort of a self-loathing thing because he's naturally really good at playing a part and it sort of makes him dislike himself a lot), lack of integrity
24. How quick is your character to trust someone else?
Despite how bright and into connection he is, he reaaaaaaally doesn't trust easily. Basically, he trusts his family and that's it.
25. How quick is your character to suspect someone else? Does this change if they are close with that person?
He will never suspect Devon or his moms of anything truly terrible. Little petty things, sure, but not like having malicious intentions. Others, he'll always be open to the idea, because he knows people are shitty.
26. How does your character behave around children?
Actually really good with them?? Because he is a big baby himself??? And also really charming, he's just bad at being responsible.
27. How does your character normally deal with confrontation?
Making a joke out of it, or avoiding/sidestepping it entirely. But if it's something really personal and he's gotten really worked up, he'll have an emotional explosion over it and it's a bad time.
28. How quick or slow is your character to resort to physical violence in a confrontation?
Very slow. He's punched someone all of once and it was when some dumbass boy in high school said something shitty about his sister, in front of him and his sister. Decked the dude out of gd nowhere.
29. What did your character dream of being or doing as a child? Did that dream come true?
Playing music and going on adventures, and yes it did.
30. What does your character find repulsive or disgusting?
Too Many Body Fluids. Sweaty palms because he thinks about them touching his instruments and then he gets crazy. Smacking when you chew. Discovery Medicine. Bugs.
31. Describe a scenario in which your character feels most comfortable.
Lounging around in a relaxed high with many good tasting drinks and foods, listening to music and reading something intriguing.
32. Describe a scenario in which your character feels most uncomfortable.
Fancy dress parties with a political atmosphere. He can navigate it by lying through his teeth but he doesn't like the feeling of it.
33. In the face of criticism, is your character defensive, self-deprecating, or willing to improve?
Self-deprecating?? In a humourous way? If it has to do with his music, he'll take it very serious and ask a lot of questions and be very committed to improvement. If it's about anything else, especially his character, he'll be like hahahaha okay sounds good, and then continue to do whatever the fuck else he was doing. If it's coming from Devon, he'll argue it in the most absurd and longwinded way possible purely for the sake of being annoying.
34. Is your character more likely to keep trying a solution/method that didn’t work the first time, or immediately move on to a different solution/method?
Immediately move on to a different solution/method, he's very fluid
35. How does your character behave around people they like?
Giddy, excitable, whimsical, charming
36. How does your character behave around people they dislike?
Flat, unimpressed, quietly critical, dismissive
37. Is your character more concerned with defending their honor, or protecting their status?
Honor
38. Is your character more likely to remove a problem/threat, or remove themselves from a problem/threat?
Remove themselves. He doesn't get into a lot of big confrontations because he'll more often just leave rather than deal with it. "It is unpleasant, I am done with it".
39. Has your character ever been bitten by an animal? How were they affected (or unaffected)?
A spider, maybe? He whined like a baby and made gagging sounds as it looked grosser and grosser.
40. How does your character treat people in service jobs?
Very kindly, honestly. He has a great amount of sympathy/empathy for people, especially living in difficult places, so if someone seems stressed at a department store, he'll quietly fix things on shelves and refold clothes while he's shopping to try to make their day a little easier. His moms also raised him well and he puts shit back where he found them when he's in someone else's space. Just, you know, not his own house. Woops.
41. Does your character feel that they deserve to have what they want, whether it be material or abstract, or do they feel they must earn it first?
He doesn't really think much about deserve or earn with things in life, because he sees life as much more chaotic than that, and it doesn't actually matter what people deserve or not. Shit just happens.
42. Has your character ever had a parental figure who was not related to them?
He's adopted, both of his moms aren't related to him.
43. Has your character ever had a dependent figure who was not related to them?
Uh, a cat maybe? He's too young and irresponsible to take care of anything bigger than that.
44. How easy or difficult is it for your character to say “I love you?” Can they say it without meaning it?
D i f f i c u l t . Despite how extroverted and seemingly open to sharing all his thoughts and feelings and such with people, he's pretty guarded when it comes to really really personal things. He'll tell his moms and sister that he loves them, and he'll jokingly/casually toss 'i love you's at friends now and again, but a genuine and heartfelt i love you for anyone outside of his family is very, very rare. As much as he advocates for vulnerability and openness and connecting with people, he's pretty terrified of being that exposed most of the time.
45. What does your character believe will happen to them after they die? Does this belief scare them?
He doesn't know and he makes a point not to think about it.
